About me
Hello! I'm Sarah! Thank you for stopping by to learn more about us! I'm sure you're wondering how I got into the photography business. Simply put, it wasn't the original plan, but it should have been all along! So about me? I grew up in Deer Park, Texas, a southeastern suburb of Houston near Nasa. As a child and young adult, I spent my free time practicing for competitive ballet and Jazz dance, or learning to play instruments and sing. In High School, I danced on the competition teams for our Drill Team, and sang in our competition Choral Choirs and Solo state competitions, I took it pretty seriously. My Senior year, I decided to take time off from dance and music to get a job that would help me later on in my career. And to help bring in a little income since I had a single mom. So, I worked for Lyondell Chemical company through high school internship, working directly for the Public Relations Manager and the Assistant to all Business Managers. While there a year, I learned administrative duties, marketing and public relations strategies that opened my eyes to new passions. But, I always loved music and adored kids, so in college I studied to become an Elementary or Music Teacher at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. After the first 2.5 years of college, like most people I wasn't sure I was studying the right thing. I realized, I longed for more of a corporate business career, one that allowed variety for my path in the future, and earning potential. So, rather than change totally after the progress I made studying education. I decided to add on a second major, Mass Communication, Journalism. I was drawn to Mass Communication, because it offered courses in graphic design, photography, and the history of story telling. So, I doubled my work load and said by to summers off, so I could study both, staying on track to graduate only 1 semester late. I also sang in our college choirs, and took on a few leadership roles within my sorority and on campus. So, I was busy busy! Before I decided to stay at home with my first son, and eventually start this business, I worked in the corporate world. Mostly in Public Relations or Design Communications for industrial and technology companies in the Houston Area. I enjoyed it, because it gave me a chance to design and think in ways I never would have before. I enjoyed learning about the company I worked for when creating a new logo or way to present their brand for them. Then based off of the aesthetic and vibe of the company itself, it was important to me that it was honored and represented well to others when they first visited the company website, and then ongoing, seamlessy beyond that to social media (Youtube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram,) all mass communication tools. As well as, proposal documents, how-to videos, headshots and just about everything! This lead to me learning how to use a professional camera! I also learned how to master Videography, graphic design, technical writing, and reach goals using market strategies. I always loved the creative side of my job the most!
Then, when we had my first son, Luke, my husband urged me to take time off and stay home with him for a while. I was already in the midst of life change, about to start a new position on the complete opposite of town. So, rather than move or commute while having a baby, I reluctantly agreed to take a break. I took his offer for the time off at home, with our new baby, of course! How could. I resist that? I planned to take my time adjusting to motherhood, and shop for the perfect new job, closer by. I had so much free time for the first time ever! I started taking pictures of my baby boy, and I realized, there were so many fun ways to do it! He was growing so fast, I couldn't believe it! It felt like I needed a new updated picture of him every month. So, when would go visit a park for instance, and I would chase him around with my camera instead of my phone, trying find interesting angles and ways to capture his excitement while playing. Soon, we were going on adventures to the beach or downtown or lakes and cool hikes nearby to get a cool picture and play. Then, after posting the images of him on social media for a couple months, friends and family started to ask me to take some for them. It was so rewarding and fun every time. It gave me purpose, outside motherhood, and it got me out of the norm, which I craved. I started taking pictures of all the babies, family, and one day, I realized that my hobby had become a great side jobby. That was in 2016! Now, not a day goes by that I'm not taking pictures. I'm so grateful to have found what I feel is my calling. I've learned so much along the way, and I've made some really wonderful friends, as well. I love watching my newly engaged couples become newlyweds and I love watching my newborns grow into beautiful young children. My goal is to give my clients the best photography experience they've ever had, and work together to make their vision or wedding day dream into a reality. If that sounds like the type of photographer you've been looking for, please contact me, so we can start designing your unique adventure, today!
