Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a newborn or birth session if I don’t know the baby’s arrival date?

​

All newborn sessions are placed on my calendar as TBD using your baby’s due date. This ensures availability before and after your expected delivery window.

Once baby arrives, please have your partner, family member, or friend email me within 48 hours (especially if baby arrives more than two weeks early). I’ll respond with available dates and times based on your preferences.
Most newborn sessions are scheduled on weekday mornings around 10:30 AM.

How does payment work and how do I secure my session?

After we choose your session type (studio newborn, studio newborn + family, or in-home lifestyle), I’ll create a custom booking link just for you.

Your private booking portal will allow you to:

• Complete a short questionnaire

• Share preferences and notes

• Help me plan props, workflow, and timing based on your family, home, and siblings

To officially reserve your session, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required at booking. This secures your spot on my calendar.

For combination packages (such as Bump-to-Baby), each session requires its own 50% deposit. The remaining balance for each session is due the day before that session, with automatic email reminders sent to you.

When is the best time for newborn sessions?

Studio Newborn Sessions

• Best scheduled 4–14 days after birth

• Sleepier babies allow for gentle posing and classic newborn images

In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Sessions

• Recommended 1–4 weeks after birth

• Lightly posed, relaxed, and family-focused

• Ideal for parents wanting more recovery time

I bring swaddles, props, and newborn accessories to your home, allowing you to enjoy the comfort of home while still achieving studio-quality images.

After 2 weeks, babies may experience peeling skin, baby acne, and longer awake periods. For babies 4–8 weeks old, I typically recommend a Lifestyle In-Home Session for the most natural and comfortable experience.

Not feeling up to cleaning or getting ready? I have trusted hair and makeup artists who can come directly to your home, and access to a bedroom-style studio option if preferred. Be sure to explore the Client Closet on my website to save on wardrobe as well.

You may visit Sarah’s private in-home studio in Spring, TX for a more posed, baby-focused session, or welcome her into your home for a relaxed, connection-based lifestyle experience. Both options are thoughtfully guided to ensure safety, comfort, and beautiful results.

Sarah is extensively trained in newborn photography and safety and is a former in-hospital newborn photographer for Methodist Hospitals of Houston. As a mother of three, she understands the care, patience, and flexibility required to photograph newborns safely and gently.

• Outdoor maternity session (family, spouse, children, and even furbabies welcome — no fees)

• In-studio newborn session (baby only)

• All props, outfits, and accessories provided

• 10 edited images per session (20 total), chosen from your proof galleries

• Option to purchase additional images after viewing

Optional First Year Package

I also offer a Bump-to-Toddler (First Year) Package, which can include:

• Maternity session

• Newborn session

• 7-month sitting milestone session (huge smiles — one of my favorite stages!)

• A seasonal family mini session

• 1st birthday cake smash (with or without a family session)

There are also simpler First Year options if you prefer just maternity, newborn, and a 1-year session. Pricing varies based on what you choose.

Booking & Timing

• A 50% deposit is required to book

• Remaining balance is due 3 days before your due date

• Your newborn session date is reserved as a placeholder and finalized once baby arrives

Recommended timing:

• Studio newborn sessions: 4–10 days after birth

• In-home lifestyle sessions: 1–3 weeks after birth (or sooner if you prefer)

For in-home sessions, I can also arrange a hair and makeup artist to come to you (around $100), making it more relaxing and stress-free.

Don’t forget — I offer a large client closet for maternity dresses and outfits for women and children at no additional cost.
